Rothesay Common Enhancement

A major public-space enhancement of the Rothesay Common, recognized as one of the Best Public Spaces in Canada. Glenn Group led the multi-year effort — concept design through tender and construction — delivering a revitalized common with expanded public amenities on a construction budget of roughly $2.2 million. The project centred on a historic building and had to meet specific architectural requirements, ensuring every new intervention respected the heritage character and design standards of the site.

The enhancement wove together year-round recreation and ecological restoration. An outdoor skating rink brings the common to life in winter, while stream rehabilitation and broad site beautification restored the natural setting and strengthened the landscape. An outdoor amphitheatre and performance-stage area created a gathering place for events and community life, complemented by a playground retrofit that refreshed play amenities and basketball courts that serve the community through the summer months.
